@ChateauErin sad as it is, I think that's probably the best scenario. I am skeptical that it is possible for the moon to have an orbit that maintains a consistent distance from the earth over a time scale like that, or at least the odds of the conditions needed for that to occur would be very very low

@aeva It goes up and down up and down with no apparent power source (magnets?). We’ve been overlooking perpetual motion for millennia!
