@spacehobo @lashman So basically the federal case is almost eliminated but he still faces state charges. Thanks that makes sense. Not shocked the state is handling this more competently, but my feeling is a jury won't convict for more than the most minor charges there.

U.S. District Judge Margaret Garnett (Judge of the United States District Court for the Southern District of New York) in Manhattan said she felt constrained by Supreme Court precedents to dismiss the murder charge, saying it was legally incompatible with the two stalking charges Mangione still faces, while acknowledging that ordinary people might be dumbfounded by the outcome.

@lashman Still miffed that the backpack isn't being dismissed. My understanding is they didn't properly seal it after the first search, so there was opportunity to plant evidence.

Even if Luigi did it, the cops screwed up too badly to leave out reasonable doubt.
