guys i just found out that there is another Barber opera. Some guy named Francesco Morlacchi wrote a new score to the Petrosellini libretto used by Paisiello and he had the extremely terrible luck to premiere his opera literally two months after Rossini's Barber, thus all his hard work was ignored and lost to history
so ofc we must investigate this third Barber opera

i think part of it is the practice i got making a bunch of (very simple) models for block game made me much more comfortable and confident navigating it as a piece of software

Bonus fun fact: because IIS can still use path-traversal for finding scripts you can encounter pages at microsoft-dot-com where swapping a directory in the path component for garbage will give you a 404, but swapping it for one of those reserved names will give you a 5xx error. So if
microsoft.com/path/to/location
has problems, using
microsoft.com/path/asdfasdf/location
will 404, but using
microsoft.com/path/lpt1/location
will give a 5xx error. ๐ (I usually use NUL when testing, but there are also CLOCK$, AUX, PRN as well)

@cstross If it wasn't because of different design and architecture (e.g. IBAN vs. ABA), the simplest, fastest, and most cost-effective path to modernizing US banking would be for them being taken over by European ones. (granted, I have no experience with western-european ones, but I can vouch for those central-european).

I... Did work with people who were very busy porting z/os cobol code to Linux + Oracle + NetCobol...
So I know it can be done. Sorta.
It was... painful. Old cobol programmers tend to be crusty fellows, who don't really like these new 'PC' things.
