I'm a tech artist. And I find the whole idea of having a dedicated person to "translate between programmers and artists" incredibly stupid.
Not only are you the bottleneck, it also makes the other 2 sides really lazy. Artists feel they don't have to care about tech (cuz that's "programmer stuff") and programmers don't have to care about learning how the things they program are actually used.
It's not agile. It prevents cross team learning. It builds silos - Talk to each other!

@kwramm I for one am totally cool with the idea of there being an industry-wide mandate for all programmers to learn some basic competency as artists and vice versa.

Happy throw-away-your-perfectly-usable-computer-due-to-arbitrary-CPU-restrictions day! Anybody manage to save any by installing a real OS on it? I did, even if it was only one.

@bt the touch screen (or the iPhone?) destroyed them all (RIM, Nokia mobile division, etc)

@Nomad13 the Canadian spirit at its best. Quality and reliability. I loved them. I had some "Pin messenger" friends (and more). They did one thing, but did it well. And IMs apps were nice, too.

@stefano I worked with another developer who was previously at RIM (and the HQ was just down from the office we worked at). Canada had a chance to be a dominant smartphone maker 😛
