My friend once gave me one of their ghost pepper / Carolina reaper crossbreeds alone with one of their habanero peppers.
I mixed them up by accident, and ate their crossbreed, seeds and all, right before I started driving the next day.
I knew I goofed when the delay for tasting the spicy was like 2 minutes straight. It was a straight 30 minutes or so of ever increasing mouth hellfire that made me stop and buy milk hoping it would help. Lol

@catsalad our only Carolina reaper so far did not come out too hot, but very tasty. It was of a very different quality though, hitting straight through the mouth with the first touch and immediately crawling down into the stomach.
With our local resident taco shop they distributed spicy on scale of 0-10 i typically ordered 12-13 and they did IT.

@catsalad There is a local Chinese place in Perrysburg, Ohio called Yum Yummy, and the woman who owns it is quite capable of murdering your taste buds.
My sister's stepson tried to order his food, 'as spicy as you can make it."
The owner was very hesitant. I tried to warn him, my wife tried to warn him. But in the end I said, "Ping? Let him have it!"
I think he sweat off a gallon of water in the next hour or so. He was hurting bad.
Every time we go in there now, we have a good laugh with the owner. She is so awesome.

@catsalad I enjoy spicy. Enough that the majority of the people I know don't trust my perception of what constitutes a "spicy dish". That being true, I regretted the only time I tried a dish that was advertised as extraordinarily spicy.
I had "just" chicken wings at a local restaurant. They asked me to sign a waiver, and I could only eat 2 and a half wings. I shared the love with my roommate, and the wing sauce that he failed to clean out from under his class ring gave him a chemical burns.

@catsalad oil works better than milk, capsaicin is fat-soluble, not water-soluble 🤓

@dave_cochran @catsalad @nuintari it was 60 miles away and we went like an average of once a week. It got to the point we’d go sit down and the waitress would just bring our food over without us ordering.
The last time I went before I moved away they brought dessert out for us. They didn’t sell dessert. Just wanted to share with us. Lovely people.
They shut down when the dad/chef stated having health issues. Like, six months before Covid.
