personally, i've always pronounced SQL as "squeal", since that's usually my reaction when i have to deal with it.
DNS could be "dins". with small TTLs, it's really really noisy.

for the record, i'm not from the UK. i just associate "dennis the menace" with the UK one because the 2009 cartoon used to air on the hub network (now discovery family) in the US when it launched. also the american dennis would've been waaaay before my time lol -
