Polish uses "zasięg" (range, literally "reach"), "zużycie" ("consumption", kWh/100km) and "przebieg" (number of kilometres driven, literally "ran through").

@brucknerite @ehproque @futurebird in English mileage actually means both things: it can mean miles per gallon or the total number of miles a car has driven (and I can confirm what you said: here in Mexico kilometraje only means total distance in kilometers).

@futurebird in Mexico people say kilometros por litro (Spain prefers reciprocal units: litres per 100km). There is a word kilometraje, but unlike mileage, it doesn't do double duty: it only means total number of km a car has traveled, not both that and km/L.

Depending on whether you measure energy/distance or distance/energy it is often just "[fuel] consumption" or "[km/running/operational] performance".

Depends a bit on the country what people are used to compare. For old fashioned cars I've seen both km/l and l/100 km..

@mahryekuh @futurebird I think mileage also means how many miles a car can go per their unit of gas measurement? Is it galleons? Where we (the Dutch) just use numbers, say the car rides 1 on 11, meaning it uses 1L for 11km. No idea if that is a good mileage, I've never had a car 😂

@brucknerite @ehproque @futurebird in USAican English, Mileage has multiple meanings, including reported length of travel, i.e. "What's your milage."

The most common use is a measure of how far a certain amount of fuel will take your vehicle, but English being English, everything is more complicated and confused than it needs to be.
