I am not involved with Servo, and I don't know for a fact they will never let you down. What I can tell you is they
- Rejected a plan to allow AI contributions
- Allow gender-neutral pronouns in documentation¹
- Are designed from word go for embeddability, meaning they will always be easier to fork than Firefox or Chromium. -

@mcc also the Ladybird guy was jumping in to defend DHH against the Woke Left or whatever. In case people think the pronoun thing was an isolated incident

@oblomov @mcc yeah. my main concern is that anything tied to Firefox seems like it kind of lives or dies by what firefox does (the chromium problem) so it feels like a band-aid solution, but if there's no other solutions (and my friends who understand more about this technology than i do have told me there probably won't be), a band-aid is better than nothing

@emaytch @mcc Pale Moon has forked a long time ago and has been maintained independently from Firefox, so for all intents and purposes it can be considered truly an independent browser now with its own engine and it will survive even without FF. For LibreWolf and WaterFox, though, their survival without Firefox behind them is a huge question mark indeed.

@mcc post-edit comment: I had read that the Ladybird guy had declared that he didn't actually have an objection to the content of the patch, but just to the fact that it came from an outside contributor, and he works have accepted it if it has been from someone already involved with the project. I had been wondering how much it that was performative recovery. Interesting to know that they did make the change ultimately.
