Someone just committed suicide on this platform due to mob harassment. And they are making it very clear their suicide is a result of mob behavior on #mastodon.

The amount of casual racism I face here is far worse than anything I experienced on ANY OTHER SOCIAL MEDIA PLATFORM due to the overwhelming culture of antiblackness that has been allowed to spread here.

You need to take this post down and really start doing some REAL work.

@ErickaSimone I've removed the post; it was pre-scheduled as part of a weekly campaign to direct folks to our new donation page.

I was not aware of the situation you mention here; the timing of the post was coincidental, and this is very upsetting.

I apologise. I'm deeply sorry for not having understood the context here. I'll re-review future scheduled posts that are part of this ongoing campaign.

@andypiper Hey Andy.
Thanks for the consideration. I understand corporate comms (did the same for tech/music labels) and scheduling things for post. Fundraising is important.

Nevertheless… yeah it’s been a rough couple of weeks out here, and some of those posts coming from the brand account as of late are very tone deaf to some of the issues a lot of people are facing on mastodon. Not just myself.

I hope eventually we can address some of it before it ruins UX for a lot of people.
