@JenJen Type in this:
sudo apt install sl
press enter, it will prompt you to install something, say yes / give it your soul
after it's done and you're back to the terminal, type:
sl
and press enter
@welshpixie @JenJen Oooh, what did that do?
(Nerding vicariously)

Good luck with your new OS!

Okay so the one thing I do need my laptop for is my research - and I use proton drive. I can use the browser to access, but it would be nice if they had an app for linux
IT BEGINS.
I won't do the food analogy I did on stream again, but I'm used to not being catered to, as a vegan, so this feels right at home

@JenJen ah, yes. Welcome to the sweet sweet realm of "oh noes, if you're not on windows or mac os, you do not exist," and the sweet, bitter, cold revenge of some nerd, somewhere, saying "oh, I'll make you *see* me, you FOOL."
No idea for Proton, but, e.g., for dropbox there are ugly scripts which exist to ensure synchronization without going on the web (it's an install-once kind of thing). Of course, you probably want a techie to help out with that to avoid mistakes. 😬

@helenmclaughlinart I don't want to spoil the surprise for @JenJen :D

:D Right click on the start menu and click edit menu or configure and see what's there. Every element has a configure or edit menu in linux. -

@JenJen this is why I use pCloud instead - not as sexy as Proton and the encrypted storage is an extra add-on but it does have a Linux app.
There's probably a way round it with Rsync or something but that's not a simple proposition for a linux vegan 😂

@JenJen I was suspecting some availability through apt-get (or uwu-get? Or whatever command that flavor of linux uses to get apps), but it looks like proton really does not support linux at all!
There does appear to be some solutions out there, but I do not have the experience to recommend or comment on them. Good luck!

Braved it and opened the terminal
Nope, instant outThat actively looks allergic to fun
Uwuntu takes the W there
Mint L@JenJen I'll proof you the terminal can be fun!
Paste this in the terminal (Ctrl+Shift+V):cat /dev/urandom | hexdump -C | grep "ca fe"
It's safe and you'll feel like a real hacker, reading the Matrix, especially if you keep the terminal open on the side of your monitor
(You can stop the rain of code with Ctrl+C anytime).
Enjoy! -

@JenJen nah, Yesterday I decided I want to actually start using linux.
Learned that "rename" command exist, just by typing "rename -h" having no idea if it will work, next renamed bunch or folders for my liking using one command instead of clicking and typing multiple times.
I look forward to more experimentation, but it's also okay not to do all those "boring" stuff!
Linux is really easy to use, no need to panic! Just enjoy and be not afraid to ask for help!

I can translate this command in human if you want @JenJen .(Also you can install cmatrix which just displays a matrix code rain.)

@JenJen there is a reasonable looking 'unofficial' client for Proton Drive. Never tried it myself so can't say if it's any use, or not. It does unfortunately require you to get your hands dirty in your terminal...
*EDIT* Scratch that, they provide an installer that would work under Mint.
