@lahosken @Mastodon macron identified US social networks as a risk to democracy a couple days ago https://www.lemonde.fr/en/international/article/2025/10/03/macron-and-merz-sound-alarm-over-european-democracy_6746067_4.html it was in the context of building up independent capacity for military action and he specifically identified user anonymity as problematic, neither of which i suspect the mastodon project agrees with
