@oblomov yeah, I just stole that bit from my pinned post on the other site and I didn't even think about it. I think the other site just unappends them by default.

@xuelder yeah, it's a bit weird. Even here on display the https:// is removed, but it's necessary to let Mastodon know that it's a link. Even when copying from a post here to another post here one has to remember to re-add them. Other platforms are also more generous in what they accept, and will try to convert into link anything that beings with a dotted word so just writing something.like.this will try and make it into a link 8-D
