Before I bite the proverbial bullet. Is someone on the #fediverse using a #Fairphone 5 with #PostmarketOS edge on it ? Is it as good as the wiki suggests ? What are the gotchas apart from the documented ones on the wiki?

@justine hi! I daily drive a #postmarketOS FP5, for the past 3 months. The experience is wonderful and it runs great, but do be aware:
- audio doesn't work at all for me, but does for others
- no calls yet
- do not choose GNOME Mobile if you rely on battery life

The community on #Matrix is super helpful, and performance is quite good. Waydroid works, but doesn't pass camera, GPS, or BT, so native apps are still crucial.

- camera is no longer green (colors washed out tho, and still no zoom or focus)
- video capture works and is smooth
- I hear mic works, but I haven't been able to try it due to my entire audio being borked
- auto rotate went from existing ~50% of boots to ~80% (just checked, this boot is an unlucky one)
- I have fixed some of the #FluffyChat issues, but they are not merged yet. I run my own flatpak in the meantine
- Tuba & Pipeline no longer freeze since mesa 26 merge

@flaki @justine it's a nice playground and I learn a lot from PMOS, but it's not any kind of reliable solution. I would encourage you to try it

Can I ask have you used the GPS in any map apps ? If so was it in terms of speed and accuracy in getting a position?

@justine @mactunag I am still going with FP5 and PMOS and it's definitely improved. Camera working even if it is crap by android standard. I kinda like it, retro underwater vibe.

Rumour has it that audio now works. I will have to reinstall to check but others report success. However this does not mean that calls work so that still requires me carrying round a UB Ports phone for calls.
