'Axion' is a sculpture from my series 'Liminal Dreams'. Named after a hypothetical particle proposed to resolve enigmas in physics, the piece embodies the elegance of invisible forces that bind, hold, and balance matter in a perpetual dance of motion and stillness.Due to climate change, drought and a 4 month fire ban, I could not fire additional pieces in this series until recently. You can see new sculptures in this series here:Https://rakupottery.ca/liminal-drea...#ArtAdventCalendar #pottery

Here's my photo of a young Cougar in snow (Puma concolor). The Cougar is also known as Mountain Lion, Puma, Catamount, or Panther. ©Carl R. Every potter is a bit of a pyromaniac. As soon as the temperature drops below 60°F, it’s fire season. I have an entire body of work that I only make in the winter because I fire #pottery in my outdoor woodfire kiln. #Permaculture geeks will love this: I built a #RocketKiln with post consumer materials based on the design of the rocket stove. I also use post consumer waste as fuel. I’m excited to share this process with you over the next couple of months. 🍐This beautiful pear-shaped #porcelain bottle from Japan is covered in a distinctive green flambé glaze. It was made by Ishiguro Kōkō of the Sumida #Pottery in Tokyo, named after the nearby Sumida River.Flambé glazes such as this require high-firing temperatures and the exact results are not entirely controllable. They rely on many factors such as the thickness of the glaze application and the kiln’s atmosphere.@ashmoleanmuseum #globalmuseum
