The Mastodon team is planning to release a universal "share" button.
(It wasn't clear to me if this was just for Mastodon servers — or if it would work with non-Mastodon servers, too. It was mentioned briefly from the audience.)

@reiver we have a Share (on Mastodon) button used in our blog at the moment - we should get it released as an open source component, and then it could be used as a basis for other things if desired.

@andypiper @reiver I've been fantasizing about a snippet library for validating and canonicalizing a fediverse (AP+WebFinger) handle. Drop in a handle/profile link/AP ID, receive full handle + web link if the input is resolvable.
Target audience would be sites that don't have full fediverse integration, but want to give people a way to link to their fediverse profile. I've seen handle vs. username vs. ID vs. URL cause confusion.
Should be <50 LOC in most languages. And let's make it CC-0.

I have been meaning to revisit the code a bit. I wonder if it should be simplified, maybe just a DIV that turns into a form with JavaScript, since the form itself can't really do much without JS enabled anyway.
The WordPress plugin makes more sense since you can handle the dynamic stuff server-side.

The FASP concept is good but sounds technically difficult to implement, so I'm a little wary of it at the moment. I'm a fan of simple APIs especially for public data.

@julian @evan If I provided them, I would probably implement https://github.com/mastodon/fediverse_auxiliary_service_provider_specifications/blob/main/discovery/trends/v0.1/trends.md but haven't done so yet. Is that suitable for you? If so, I should do it soon.

Do you know if there are rough analytics available per tag, e.g. "7 posts in the last 7 days", etc.?

@kodingwarrior sorry maybe my comment wasn't clear. you have an event @fedidevkr that has an identity tied to moin. there are gancio instances like this one @shows that have events in a specific city. What I think would make sense is for an instance of Moim to be able to pull in a remote event from another piece of software.

@julian @evan I do trends for individual hashtags only. I fear that analyzing co-occurrency is going to use much more memory than I am allowed to use on our servers in the basement.

moim.live just crossed 30 members.
Shipped calendar subscription today — you can now subscribe to your personal schedule directly in Google Calendar and other apps.Traffic is still an unknown. But I'm not ready to go door-to-door yet anyway. There's one payment feature missing, and that's what I'm building toward next.
ActivityPub is supported and always will be — but it's not the whole point. The journey to making something genuinely useful is just getting started. Until payments feature shipping, I will not do additional work except for bug fix, changing UI.
