We took for granted that at least our tech bubble would understand what the Google Decree means for Android, #FLOSS and freedom. Unfortunately we never saw the uproar we were expecting and people just shrugged it off taking for granted that "nothing changes".
@marcprux great #FDroid post brought the issue into the light, waking up developers, users, media and (we hope) concerned authorities to the immense danger the newly proposed gatekeeping controls Google wants to add.

A lot of people are bringing up price as a downside. This is true insofar as there are certainly cheaper offerings on the market which are even more powerful in terms of specs, and with less fiddling required.
So that doesn't sound like a big sell! This is for people who want to have something repairable, and want to help *get* the state of hardware to a better safe, to help invest in hardware for a future we can still control.

@enki_2931 questo nn lo sapevo, grazie ! Ma non mi serve neppure un cellulare così potente! La sola cosa che mi potrebbe far gola è una fotocamera decente. Più che altro per quando non ho dietro la mia vera fotocamera ! Per il resto non gioco, non chatto salvo msg di servizio, leggo le mail e gli eBook…. Qualche sito, mastodon… finita lì. Son vecchia scuola, preferisco un portatile nello zaino !!

@calcifer TBF it's not like MSO doesn't have its quirks, and this hasn't prevented it from being imposed as default everywhere. The more people adopt LO, the more its quirks will become «default» and the more people will adapt to them and find the MSO ones annoyingly disruptive.
(This to say: there's something to be said about pushing for standardization even on imperfect things, simply because what most people consider acceptable vs quirky is as much a matter of habit as it is objectively.)

@andre123 Se parliamo del Pixel 10, la versione da 128 GB ha memorie più vecchie e lente rispetto alla versione da 256 GB. La differenza non è piccola: le 256 GB sono più recenti e performanti.
Il Pixel 10 non è un top di gamma per componenti (non è come un Samsung S25 o un iPhone), ma viene apprezzato per ottimizzazione software e gestione del sistema, che lo rendono comunque molto fluido.

@enki_2931 si la modularità non è poco eh… tra graphene e altri non ho approfondito a sufficienza per cui non so esprimermi anche se il consenso generale pare per graphene appunto. Considerato poi che sto seguendo lo sviluppo dei cellulari con display e-ink… ne tirassero fuori uno con graphene e fotocamera non spazzatura sarebbe perfetto per me! Ma… vediamo…. Intanto speriamo che non passi sta porcata domani !
