@sundogplanets Same room in the 'tourist season' (which I assume is Summer or Spring for Victoria) would be *suuuuper expensive* so I guess enjoy the fact that the weather is, for you, not bad? :D

@sundogplanets That's like 50F I think and that would be fine for me! That was what it was when I was in Ireland, I think, and I was slowly melting in the jacket I had brought.

Oh my gosh...the hotel that UVic got for me is so fancy it's... embarrassing? Horrifying? I got a "free upgrade" (extra free because I didn't pay) to a suite and this is actually bigger than the ground floor of my farmhouse. And it's 10 stories up. And there's a balcony. This is... super weird. (It actually wasn't very expensive, either. I guess nobody wants to visit Victoria in winter, except people who live in Saskatchewan). #ProfSamLectureTour

@geckzilla The very first goats I bought (back when I worked at a farm north of Victoria, the goats were for the farm owner), were from Saltspring Island. The guy I bought them from offered to meet me at the ferry with the 2 goats on leads, and just hand them to me so I could get right back on the ferry with goats and not have to pay for a vehicle. I really wish I had done it, in retrospect, but I just didn't know goats very well yet! If there's any ferry where this would work, it's that one.

@sundogplanets for the bed and the living room duh. I once got a fancy suite for being a speaker at a conference and felt similarly awkward. ended up inviting a bunch of people to my room for coffee to show them my heated nespresso cup drawer…

Sometimes people who book outside talent, whether for speaking or contracts, don't have the budget to reward you as well as you both think they should. However they do have accommodations/per-diem/etc. budgets from a different pool of money and knowledge of the local hotels, restaurants and so on. This sounds like one of those cases.

@sundogplanets I used to travel for business and once got upgraded to a suite just because that’s all they had left. Enjoy!

Aw, man, I really wanted the Tough Guy to be the one that had to call for help (and he would have, the tough guys always fail pretty quick), rather than his son. That would have been amazing television and might have fixed him so he could have a decent relationship with his son.

That said, Brooke does seem to know her way around the woods. A bit of an overreaction to a wolf being nearby, but she didn't do anything foolish in response.
Seeing that we have at least one notably weak link in most of these teams, I think this is going to be a short season.
