Do I think it's a good idea for people to build nomadic identity stuff for the Fediverse? Absolutely.
But if the thing you are concerned about is instances shutting down, which seems to the be meta du jour, there is a much, much easier solution: more instances run by co-ops or nonprofits with actual boards, bylaws, and processes.
You don't even have to be technical to do something like that! There are hosted fedi services if you can't find anyone who can admin an instance for your co-op!

Nomadic identity is also not like, just a switch you can flip. It's either DNS or cryptography, neither of which the mythical "normal user" is going to engage with.
