My talk title and description are a stub, because I am still thinking about what I want to say. I am taking this talk very seriously.
Everything seems urgent and important. I believe:
- Decentralized media is the only media we have left amidst fascism
- The fediverse and the ATmosphere are the best hopes we have. But neither are sufficient.
- What are our real threats
- What we're doing at Spritely
- What we can all do -

- What we can all doI am trying to balance this against the fact that I have said some of these things at my recent Fediforum keynote. I'm not against repeating themes, I do it often, but I don't want it to sound like it will be the same talk.
And it won't be.
Because a lot has happened, and because I haven't said everything yet.
I'm worried about the here and now, and I'm worried about our future. And I want us to build. I want us to thrive.

@cwebber@social.coop I dunno, like, sure its adoption has been better, but like, it's still behind hubzilla in portability
Too bad hubzilla is so half-baked. Either way, agreed, the portable identity is a desperately missing part of fedi.
That being said, it seems as though the things atproto offers are mostly smoke and mirrors enabled by the centralized architecture.
Though, tbh, I am mostly not there for it, and thus may be dismissing it in ways that are unproductive.
I think i'll stand with my opinions on its moderation though -

@dawn It's fine! There will be some fresh critique/analysis of both ATProto and the present-day fediverse in my talk, that I can promise
