@Szescstopni And there's public transport connections at least once an hour
@HaTetsu The only public transport that will ever come to my place will be an ambulance :)

@Szescstopni oh, come on! Mediterranean is perfectly warm ;-)

@jak Right now? Yes :) A small house over Mediterranean is OK as a Masto dream.

@Szescstopni grasslands in my case but yes, you’re correct

I want one of those tiny apartments that somehow manages to have three bedrooms in it in Manhattan. Once the kids move out we can downsize to one bedroom. How does one do this?

@rk No idea. I live in a forest in Easter Poland.

…that would also be acceptable though I don’t speak Polish. I’d have to learn. That could be fun.

“I work as a barista at a coffee shop and live in an enormous apartment in Manhattan within a couple of blocks of Central Park! This is not suspicious at all.”

@rk A three bedroom apartment in Eastern Poland? Certainly much cheaper than in Manhattan. $100K is more than enough for a three bedroom house here.

@rk @pseudonym I assume you might be referring to something I haven't heard about.

(It is now that I wish to add that every job should pay enough to live in the city in which you work and I’d like it if this were somehow enforced.)

Sorry yes. You have now been dragged into a distinctly American conversation, I apologize.

@Szescstopni Honestly, my dream setup is being able to live out of like a van or a boat with a cabin so deep in a forest you have to drive off road for a few minutes to get to it to tend to a garden and a handful of animals.

@rk No need to apologize. What's this story with a barista in a huge apartment? @pseudonym

@Szescstopni The American Southwest is where I want to be. I’ll run a small bed and breakfast located on an orchard and offer homemade honey, jams, and jellies. Maybe I’ll have a couple of alpacas too!

@Szescstopni and near a river
@__d That would be lovely. There's no river near my place. It's all bogs.

A lot of American television shows are set in New York City and feature “regular people with regular jobs” who would, in reality, never be able to afford an apartment like that in NYC without three roommates and a second job.

@rk Got it. Yes, tv shows are weird. The more "reality" they try to have the moire fantasy they contain. @pseudonym
