@EUCommission You have the means, and the correct platform (Mastodon). Now tell MEPs to leave X, where the discourse is controlled by an American oligarch, and address EU citizens exclusively on Mastodon, where they can’t be silenced or censored, and the EU has complete control. #leavex #EUMastodon

That Chat Control will not go ahead.
That the Digital Omnibus will not drive roughshod of the rights that we currently have here in the EU. Rights that many of us are proud of.

The more time passes, the more I regret never writing my series of articles on #FLOSS myths since at least 2016. (Yes, that's 10 years ago, and that's *at the minimum*.)
One of the articles of the series would have been about the “corporatization” of FLOSS (i.e. corporations taking over key elements of the FLOSS ecosystem, and how that would have affected the future of FLOSS).
The main reason why I regret not dedicating time to that write-up is that I actually love saying «I was right».

Because that worked SO WELL in the past as an excuse.

Ze Frank's The Show was self-hosted QuickTime videos on a blog with comments and an RSS feed. A community forum, wiki, and series of interactive web pages tied it all together. Social media was a bunch of blogs linking to each other. Facebook opened to everyone in September of that year, Google bought YouTube in November, Steve Jobs announced the first iPhone in January 2007. Twitter blew up at SXSW in March and iPhone came out in June, the beginning of the end for the dominant open social web.

"Car chase" comes to mind. Also "mystical warrior with a *giant hat* suddenly shows up for no reason with lightning shooting out of his eyes, and nobody just shoots him". Except subvert the "nobody shoots" and steal his hat.
