    @haublesHopefully, the onboarding process will be revised so that @Mastodon is no longer the only default instance to choose from, but just one of many options that new users are guided through in a short guided tour of the app when they first create an account, in order to determine their interests and needs and ultimately offer them one or a maximum of three instances to register with, based on the previous evaluation.This would be truly transparent and would further improve the decentralisation of Mastodon, instead of always directing everyone to just one instance, as has been the case up to now. #MastodonSocial #MastodonOnline #Mastodon #Fediverse #Transparency #Decentralization #Onboarding

    #Hollo 0.7 brings a redesigned #notification system with much better performance. We've moved from generating #notifications on-demand to storing them as they happen, which makes the notifications endpoint about 60% faster. We've also added response compression (though if you're using a reverse proxy, you probably had this already). More notably, Hollo 0.7 implements Mastodon's v2 grouped notifications API. Notifications like favorites, follows, and reblogs targeting the same post or account are now grouped together server-side, reducing clutter. Clients that support the new API (introduced in #Mastodon 4.3) will show cleaner, more organized notifications automatically. Hollo 0.7 is still in development, but we're excited to share it with you when it's ready!

    One final annoyance with my @gotosocial migration!I implemented a split-domain setup, as wonderfully documented by @gotosocial here: docs.gotosocial.org/en/latest/Note that #Mastodon also supports it, and documents it similarly here: docs.joinmastodon.org/admin/coIn both Mastodon and #GoToSocial, I notice that web clients FAIL to login with the account domain.From what I see on the web server, the account domain receives exactly ONE request:"POST /api/v1/apps HTTP/2.0" 404 146 "-" "Tusky/31.1 Android/15 OkHttp/5.1.0"(This is Tusky, but Mastodon's app and others behave the same)I tried to 301 / 307 redirect that endpoint (against @gotosocial's recommendation), but that fails in the same way (except I see the different matching code on the web server).As a side effect, apps show my username as: at evilham at fedi.unchat.cat, instead of @evilham, which is what I actually wanted.What to do? >,<
