What is a good fediverse instance for a non profit. (Nature, Environment, Environmental Justice )
One requirement would be allowing longer than 500 character posts.
Another feature, if possible, some text formatting options ( is that even feasible)
Where can one compare instances

@ramkay Have you considered having a WordPress blog? You can have long posts with formatting, and with the ActivityPub and WebFinger plugins installed, anyone on the fediverse can follow your blog directly from their account.

@ramkay @pfefferle Tbh, it depends on how you want to use it. Having a federated blog is useful because it's just one thing to update: people can read and comment and share the info they need where they want to (in their social feed).
But if you have the resources to manage a social media account AND a blog, it could be more versatile and rewarding to also find a home on a Mastodon/Fediverse instance.

What you point out is the exact same issue on oligarch tools
Insta + whatsapp + telegram etc all have differeing methods and "permanance" and nkn transferability.
What you suggest might actually be nice, i.e Put the material up in one place and share a link
And then Being present on an instance offers a more direct connect with the community.

Thiugh now the necessity of formatting and long posts is less required.
