I love the piece Cory Doctorow wrote about RSS.
But I take exception to the idea that it's been dormant, or that Google made it work. The NYT did that. And there were lots of good if not great feed readers before Google.

@davew Did RSS feeds commonly not have titles before Google Reader? I wasn't aware of that. What did the UI show for a summary?

@davew Reminded again that we need good mechanisms for "Post once, re-post everywhere". Especially in these days of multiple socials.
A big part of the problem is the different post lengths and mechanisms for threading. Especially when adding new thread posts later.

@jbond -- it's impossible as long as each system has a different idea of what a post is.

@mau forse sembrerà una critica alla categoria, ma trovo che I "filosofi della mente" (come l'autore che hai citato) tendano a essere molto interessanti quando forniscono la propria opinione riguardo a questioni legate all'intelligenza artificiale; d'altra parte li trovo molto poco interessanti ed estremamente inaffidabili quando si tratta di fornire ogni interpretazione dell'esistente o, peggio ancora, avventurarsi in previsioni sul futuro.
Il lunghissimo articolo in questione, per esempio, ha il dono di essere estremamente plausibile e di apparire convincente, eppure non presenta adeguati elementi che ne dimostrino la correttezza.
Tutto ciò ci ricorda che l'indipendenza tra l'attendibilità di un testo e la sua plausibilità non è certo un fenomeno distorsivo nato con gli LLM 😅

@eniko and - I know this may sound weird - but this also plays a part in how I perceive and present my masculinity. There's a social expectation that someone like me should really own a big, expensive car simply because I'm a dude and that would somehow be an affirmation of my gender... and I'm so much like fuck that bullshit, I don't want any part of it.
