@johnefrancis @kfury fair! In Pythagoras 's time, it was typical to describe dates with as "Nth of Month" or "N days before the end of Month". Month names were regional. Year numbers were usually based on the year of rulers or leaders in the city. So, he'd know a date format more like: +/- day, Month name, year of rule, ruler or leader name.
