Anybody remember that bit of trivia about a contest called "Hold Your Wee for a Wii"?
Found out the other day it was not a cute, whimsical thing. In fact, very fucked up.
So I thought, years ago when I read it, it was a contest where people simply drank a glass of water and then just stood around until they couldn't hold it in anymore.
However, it turns out that the contestants were told to drink more water over time, so much that several developed water poisoning, and at least one of them died of it.
Despite receiving a warning that this could happen and acknowledging it, the contest runners encouraged the drinking and made jokes about one contestant having a distended stomach. She developed an intense headache after, went home, and died an hour later.There was a lawsuit and a law made about it, related to hazing (technically they weren't forced to, but were pressured).
