you are not allowed to sign up to speak using the normal form for tis, there's another form that has to be completed 2-3 weeks earlier.

what this means, is that everyone who signed up to speak in opposition to AI surveillance being installed in the parks at $2,000,000 taxpayer expense will have to sit through a sales talk from the sales directors of the AI surveillance company - but you WON'T be allowed to speak or say ANYTHING about it in opposition.

Austin's city council plays stupid games with its citizens. You should kindly, politely, & courteously make your voice heard. This is no longer about AI surveillance cameras, or this individual contract. It's about a manipulative and cowardly way of dealing with your own residents. If you stand for it now, they've gotten away with it - and they'll do it again.

The last time, almost 100 people showed up. You not only conducted yourselves excellently - you cleaned up OTHER PEOPLE'S TRASH. You bought & gave water to people who passed by & refused to accept money for it. You engaged civilly with people who disagreed. You were an example to be followed.

Don't give in, give up, and avoid showing up because your city council is fucking with you. Rather, I make the argument that you have no choice BUT to show up. Anything else sends the message that this type of manipulative procedural bullying works, and will result in people not making their voices heard.
