Friends of the #Fediverse - I need some information about good apps for iOS. On Android, my favourite is #Moshidon but I also like #Tusky or #Pachli or #Fedilab etc.
On iOS, I remember I was using (back in 2022/early 2023) #Icecubes and #Tusker - which looks nice but I can’t find the quote post option.
Can you please help me and suggest something?
@stefano I’ve been using Ivory since the beginning and even though I‘ve tried others, I always come back to it.
I recently tried the new Mona release and it was probably the closest I had to replacing Ivory, but it couldn’t quite win me over.
I tried Ice Cubes, but never got along with it.

PS: per Android ti consiglio di provare Raccoon, un'app ancora giovane e con qualche difetto, ma molto interessante per l'ergonomia e per alcune funzioni particolari

@stefano currently uslng ice cube. Used “Toot!”, Mona as well. Ivory before subscription model was a problem.

I’m trying some apps. Ice Cubes is nice, but doesn’t work with #snac and it’s open source, which is a great plus
Tusker is nice and works perfectly with snac, but doesn’t allow to quote post (which is ok, for snac, a bit less for Mastodn)
Toot! Is nice and funny. Worth investigating more.
Mona is clear and seems to be working with #snac too
Ivory looks interesting, but I should consider if I want to pay a monthly fee.

@stefano Mona and Icecubes here. Ic you’re new to Mona, they also switched to a subscription model. As an existing user I could update for a one-time fee.

@operand However, they experience those problems in a *completely different way*, which not only is their userbase unprepared for, but the pre-existing experience of fediverse users does not exactly prepare for!

@mcc I guess you could simultaneously see this as a success and a failure for ATproto: decentralization is possible... but you immediately get a lot of the same problems ActivityPub has that ATProto ostensibly solved.

This is why—although, now Blacksky is letting me "see through" Bluesky's worst moderation decisions, I'm glad, because Bluesky's moderation is weird and arbitrary—I think it's a downside of the network, and Mastodon made the right decision not offering this feature. Fediverse defederation forces a degree of soft group consensus on moderation: it's possible to say "if you're talking to X, I don't want to talk to *you*". On Bluesky we are all ghosts walking through walls and this can't be enforced

Oh, and let's consider, for a moment, the downsides of an individual user being able to "opt out" of moderation decisions. The problem with misbehavior on social media is force multipliers. One person harassing you is no problem; one person and their 3000 friends is a big problem. Imagine Bluesky and Blacksky ban user X but Trumpsky lets X keep posting. Now their 3000 friends— still in Bluesky's good graces— can see their posts calling to harass you, AND can zero-friction zip over to yell at you
