@aeva I wish we knew more - is it just that vaccinated people take better care of themselves and are higher SES? Or is there some actual method by which the vaccine improves health beyond the main purpose?
I recently saw evidence that mRNA vaccines cause "cold tumors" to become "hot" which lets your immune system deal with them.

@demofox well, one of the interesting things with covid statistics is surplus deaths, which is to say, there is more death in general right now than prior to the pandemic. Covid infections increase your risk of other problems like dying of a heart attack, even after recovery. So, in addition to things like being a signifier of prosocial behavior and good self preservation instincts, covid vaccines preventing covid infections also prevents or reduces the elevated risk of deadly complications.

@aeva oh I see. I had it backwards. The truth is that covid is just widely damaging. Thanks for that!
