@afewbugs @_elena @aral @joynewacc Aral is such an inspiration to me. I sit here, waiting for some leader figure to emerge and tell me what to do. To tell me how I can help. I'm just a normal person, after all. But I realize, why wait for a leader? I can start things myself too. I don't need to wait until the work is done by someone else. Be the change you want to see, and all that. I can start with small things. Look what https://gaza-verified.org has become within a few days. 😍
And Joy is such an example of strength. Helping her people survive while she struggles for her own survival. She values empathy with her people and humanity over competition. Joy, you're a true hero. 💕

instance. They've taken up the challenge of keeping things going at what turned out to be a difficult time. #GratefulForYou@chartonjeremiah thank you Harry! And I absolutely agree, I'm super grateful for @Gina and how she picked up the reins of Fosstodon at that difficult time... and her mindfulness and care in constituting a new team. She's amazing ❤️

@_elena Too many individuals to list here! Everyone who's actively participating in our community and advocates for us outside of it.
But I do want to give a special shout-out to Black people who stuck out with us, despite the fediverse not having a great track record of being welcoming to them.

@_elena Honestly for #GratefulForYou I have too many fedi friends to mention on the individual level. I think I've had the longest conversations with @rl_dane and they always have nice things to say to everyone and create such a welcoming atmosphere on fedi. I'm actually deathly afraid of social media deep down and if it wasn't for encouragement and support from people like them I wouldn't still be using this account at this point. So, thank you!

@Gina I left TikTok the moment I realized that Cheeto was trying to set himself up as it’s savior. I wanted nothing to do with it after that.
And I’m glad I did. I noticed that it became much easier to deal with my mental health afterwards.
But I also don’t disagree with anything you said. I think for a lot of people it is a source that they need and is useful.
It just felt too icky for me after he stuck his orange fingers into it.
But that’s a “me“ thing. No shade to anyone else.
