@NotYours @Casey @kevin @pj Might be an idea to back up your account data occasionally, in case the instance gets turned off. Always a risk when people lose interest in their new toy.

Luckily it's fairly straightforward to migrate to a new instance without losing your follows and followers.

To be fair, in my own humble experience of the forkiverse, I’m certainly not on here as much as I was when this experiment started. And I think one reason is it takes more effort and time to noodle around on here than the fairly mindless scrolling of typical social media.

Maybe set a reminder in your calendar to do a backup once every 2 weeks, just in case? This is one of the shining features of the Fediverse, you can simply migrate to a new server and bring all your follows and followers with you.

For the highly technical people here, you could even migrate your post archive to a self-hosted GoToSocial instance by using the SLURP tool. But I don't want to overcomplicate things (even I couldn't do it)
