I think we can all agree that I've picked a particularly niche area of #retrocomputing. In fact, if you count the fact that I really focus on #Psion's 16-bit machine, one could say it's a niche within a niche within a niche.
In spite of this, there is still so much that I can work on! A lot of SIBO (hardware) and EPOC16 (software/OS) hasn't been explored for decades, if it ever was by the community.
And modern advances in technology make it so much easier to do things. For example, #PsiDrive would have looked very different and been much more expensive to produce 15 years ago.

@thelastpsion In a way it's a reflection of the many niches and vendors the much more diverse computing market had back in the day.

@km @OpenBSDAms at the moment, they're caching and sending out the media files. Media is the most critical part of the Mastodon experience as websockets help to keep latency low (even if it's not that low), but media loading can overload the media server and make the experience slower. Replicating them around the world helps.

@oblomov Yes, but how much visibility do you think X is giving to a post with a link to Mastodon and one to Bluesky? 😉
With each migration wave a few people from there find me here, but the problem is not even the number of followers, the problem is that I don't have the mental energies to create that amount of content for a small audience anymore.
