Nancy Griffith - Listen to the Radio
I hadn't heard of her passing (2021). She battled breast cancer in 1996 and thyroid cancer in '98. Dupuytren's contracture led to her losing flexibility in her fingers, which made playing the guitar difficult.
I ended up with Dupuytren's contracture (15+ years ago?), thinking it had something to do with biking. But it hasn't got any worse ... something to do with biking?

She’s one of my favorites. Good songwriter and good interpreter of other people’s songs.

I enjoy this collection of her appearances on Letterman. It’s interesting to see how she and Letterman changed over time. Most of her well-known songs. I guess she was definitely struggling with health even during some of this time frame.

@donray
I had some of her tapes/CDs starting late 80’s I think? Thing with listening to her on YouTube is it keeps surfacing others, I’d forgot about Kate Wolf.

https://youtu.be/6uQNRTnsntYThat’s a great song. It’s one I learned to play from the Other Voices cassette that we had.

I’ve been living the 2nd verse recently:
I've been siftin' through the layers
Of dusty books and faded papers
They tell a story I used to know
And it was one that happened so long ago -

@donray I like how it starts with Dave showing albums and the media changes over appearances.

@donray I haven’t made it al the way through yet, but I’m guessing MiniDisc didn’t make the cut.

#musicwomenwednesdayMy BFF has/had it. His was from using a mouse at work. He had to have surgery. He was also a heavy drinker and alcohol was one of the culprits.
