Tai Lopez—yeah, the “here in my garage” guy with the Lambo and a stack of self-help books—has finally attracted the attention of the SEC.
The same dude who pitched reading a book a day as the cheat code to wealth is now accused of running something that looks a lot like a $100-million-plus shell game.
His Retail Ecommerce Ventures bought up the corpses of RadioShack, Pier 1, and Dress Barn, then supposedly “revived” them. The SEC says that’s a lie. None of the brands made money, and he and his partner were just shuffling investor cash around to make it look like they did—skimming millions for themselves in the process.
