@glyph
Yep, works there. Will be a bit awkward for a while until apps catch up I guess. -
@glyph I never thought of myself as running a "FediFiefdom lonely manor" but I do think that idea is pretty funny.
-
@glyph "harrassing people has never changed their mind"
well to be fair, nobody's accused her of trying to change anybody's mind

@sandorspruit @grimalkina thank you for saying so, that's definitely what I was going for. this was somewhat intentional; when I lampoon this type of behavior I try to make the lead-in very brief and the punchline _extremely_ obvious since overly-subtle satire of this sort of sexism is just more sexism

@glyph @sandorspruit I love when people yell for and with me

@nickzoic the behavior of LLM scrapers is beyond deranged. I have no idea why they act the way they do. It's deeply counterproductive and practically designed to cause a catastrophic, cascading failure of all the infrastructure they rely on to exist
-
@nickzoic @glyph common crawl isnât updated quickly, and they want the newest stuff. Still, their behavior is just absolutely asinine. Most pages donât update.
I heard this week that Wikipedia was complaining about scrapers, and I was like, âYou stupid shits! Just download the database! They publish it for that exact reason!â
-
@glyph Have you had to implement any anti-scraper measures on your own site yet?

@matt No. I don't handle that much traffic and the fact that it's 99% static means that it pretty much never gets overloaded. if I start adding more dynamic content I might have to revisit that

@glyph i wish vulpine labs was able to raise that much

@aeva my message to CEOs about this particular piece of advice is "do it. I fucking dare you"

@glyph I'm sure it'll get reverse engineered pretty quickly if it hasn't been already. There's lots of people out there who read disassembled shaders for a living.

@aeva I'm sure there will be attempts but I don't think the kind of team that has the leisure for shader RE'ing are also going to use that capacity to meticulously create a pixel-accurate simulacrum

@glyph there's some valiant efforts to reverse it other ways https://www.shadertoy.com/results?query=liquid+glass I would not under estimate the human spirit's ability to fuss over tiny details.

@aeva I do not know any shader languages and I'm painfully bad at math but I have played around with this stuff enough at this point that I can, like, *smell* SDFs now
