Pro-Brexit Majority Of 2016 'Has Literally Died Out', Polling Expert Reveals
The founder of YouGov said there is now an 8.1 million majority in favour of rejoining the EU.
(Also: National Bureau of Economic Research recently claimed: “By the start of 2025, the UK economy was approximately 8% smaller than it would have been without Brexit.”)

@cstross Yes, but unlike leaving, rejoining needs the agreement of the EU as well.
Go away we don't want you here to cause more problems. -

but but but Starmer was supposed to make brexit work
(yes I know he was also a prominant face of remain way back when too)
"rejoining" is a political poison pill as there's no way the UK will ever get a deal similar to the one it had, and would have to give up the £ for €
and no more blue passports! think of the passports! 🤦♀️

@maya_b You know Poland was supposed to give up the Zloty in 2008, yes? The euro can be kicked down the road indefinitely. And EU passports can come in blue, too. The opt-outs are gone for good, though. And rejoining will cost—whether in political goodwill or hard cash (probably both). Expect intense US pressure to stay out, for example.

indeed the rejoining costs will be high.
the "patriotism" arguments about passports and currency are going to be loud and I fear what keeps any "right let's bite the bullet and stop shooting ourselves in the proverbial" and rejoin.
I remember a lot of people not believing it would happen and voted leave because they wanted to punch Cameron in the nose -
just a horrible mess. at the time I lived in one of the most remain areas of London - next was morning was depressing.

@maya_b I live in Scotland, which voted to remain in the EU by a 62/38 margin. EVERY constituency in the while country voted Remain—we'd been told we could only stay in the EU if we voted against independence in 2014!—but guess what happened?
We need Scottish independence, as a republic, and EU accession. it's the only way to get the Faragist Little Englanders out of running (and fucking up) our affairs.
