I saw a post earlier about a local alternative to Perplexity (an agentic LLM + search), but now I can’t find it. Does anyone know the best way to track down posts like this?
Also, is there any community where you can ask for help searching posts on the Fediverse, or is nostupidquestions fine for that?
I really wish posts were properly organized using tags. Finding stuff would be so much easier.

If you saw it in Lemmy, try using the search function with keyword perplexity?

I think I remember the article you mean; I think it was about local agentic search. No idea where that was though.
Nah, it didn't say anything about perplexity it just felt like that to me. It uses Ollama and some of the LLM services from companies but I saw it on an image, and I don't remember what the title was.

Did you upvote (or downvote) it? Some clients like Voyager allow you to see what you voted on. You can find it in the profile tab.

Right now I can see the posts I have already interacted with, for a moment I thought it would be that.

searching the fediverse is limited. Can't say I have had much luck with it.
And with instances blocking each other it may be in an instance I can't see from this one.

@pendell consensus and community input are important for foundational systems (eg display, audio, network, date time, etc) so that essential functionality is stable and implemented well enough that the rest of the ecosystem can be built on it, but it's not really important whether or not Crazy Bob's Chronometer Bauble fits into some grand brand vision

@pendell I disagree, this was a problem that was created by trying to have a unified vision (it's a gnome app using a gnome service and it works fine if you use gnome but i don't use gnome), and if it was designed to function well stand-alone it wouldn't have had this problem and wouldn't have required any broader coordination with anyone else's vision beyond the passive agreement that comes from using standard interfaces

@aeva the dice roll in the middle of drowning suggests that it was mere luck that we reached an outcome where you could not tell if the gnome clock was worse. it could have just as well gone the other way, and in fact, had you been slightly more informed, you would have definitely obliterated my little piece of driftwood.
