Italian speakers, I need your help!
There's the line in Diodato's song "Solo":e non mi fermerร certo il pianto di una strega
I wonder if "il pianto di una strega" is an idiom, or if it means exactly what it says: the crying of a witch. (Whatever that might mean though.)
Grazie mille!!

I don't think "il pianto di una strega" is an idiom. Never heard of it before. True, there's still a chance it might be a regional idiom.

Third Italian here.
And also I confirm that it is not an idiom.
Anyway, the term "strega" is used not only to indicate a magic woman, but also a bad female person. Thus, maybe, in the text of that song, it has the second meaning. -

@max@poliverso.org Grazie! At least that is clear now. The meaning however is still unclear to me. But that's alright. It's poetry, things aren't always clear. ๐ At least the rest of the text is.

I've just read the lyrics and it doesn't make sense to me either.
He probably needed a word to rhyme with "frega" and "strega" was all that he thought of ๐
