Finest Worksong by REM. (The time to rise, has been engaged)
Actually there are several songs on the Document album written as protest songs to Reagan policies.
Rhythm Nation by Janet Jackson will work also. -

Some years ago a banjo player Desert Rat was throwing out songs that remind me of the stuff Jesse Welles is doing nowBut he only did one home-made CD right after the WTO protests in 1999 as far as I know. The distribution just wasn’t there like YouTube now
This is a later recording of one of those songs
“When the Tear Gas Fills the Sky”

Different from most other examples, I recently came across this book covering music put out by actual workers to support their strikes and movements🪧STRIKE WHILE THE NEEDLE IS HOT: A DISCOGRAPHY OF WORKER'S REVOLT
https://www.commonnotions.org/buy/strike-while-the-needle-is-hotWorth suggesting to your local library and bookstores, and picking up a copy for yourself 📚

(looking at you, the part of the fediverse with vinyl collections you haven't talked about in a while. now is your time to shine.)@DeliaChristina The 70s was a good time for this kind of song. "Because all men are brothers" has a great anthem-like tune and its easy to sing. Also, someone has updated the lyrics to make it gender inclusive.

(looking at you, the part of the fediverse with vinyl collections you haven't talked about in a while. now is your time to shine.)@DeliaChristina how modern are you wanting? Billy Bragg and David Rovics are both very good but it's still just dudes singing semi badly over guitar. Tom Morello has an entire album of labour songs that aren't exactly to my taste but are solid and don't sound like Joe Hill songs. The longest johns also have some good stuff
