@futurebird @akamran As someone else said “mob front”
Mob front would care to make really good ice cream ?
(serious question, I don't know how that works, I never fronted a mob and AFAIK none of my relatives did)(I mean, I did once buy from a bakery that I suspect to be a money laundering front because their pastries were so bland that I don't see how they could survive otherwise, since there were other bakeries in the neighborhood; but that's the point, they clearly didn't care about making anything actually good)

"Do you have birthday cake ice cream?"
"No! It's winter."
"???"
"We only have that one in the summer, you know, birthday season."Birthday Season?
Has anyone ever heard of this?
@futurebird I have a winter birthday (like real winter, not November) and can confirm, nobody wants to celebrate at that time of year. Especially not with ice cream, but also not with anything that involves leaving thrif homes.

"Crap."
"What now, Louie?"
"Another damn customer. Every single time, I lose my place launderin' the money."
"Tell 'em we ain't got none of whatever they want."
"What if we got it?"
"Make somethin' up! Jeez!"...

@lienrag @futurebird @akamran Maybe there’s this one guy who likes making ice cream and the mob boss loves that ice cream; so no one gets to talk shit.
Clearly I’ve watched way too much tv

@farah @futurebird @akamran Could be Scottish gangs?

Ah the classic Norman Rockwell painting of the exhausted ice cream man next to the calendar showing it's the middle of birthday season!

Most ice cream shops will give you a little spoon or wooden stick with a taste of a flavor to help you make up your mind.
I thought that was the whole point of having a "parlor" and not just going to buy a pint.
And I thought the point of an ice cream parlour was to pay as much for three scoops as you would for a 1-litre family pack at the supermarket.

@futurebird @CoolerPseudonym there’s a lesser known Rockwell painting of an exhausted takeout delivery driver approximately nine months earlier

@futurebird I've heard it said that there are the.most births (human) in August, perhaps there is truth to that? Also I would wonder if hosts of birthday parties in colder weather opt for other kinds of cakes. Baking is more comfortable when it's cold out, if nothing else.

@futurebird Seems that February is, indeed, the least popular “birthday month”, but it’s a shorter month so not really a fair competition. August is tops, followed by July-October-September, so late summer to early fall is more or less “birthday season”. Ice creameries should adjust accordingly 🎂🍦🥳https://www.babycenter.com/family/birthdays/most-common-birthday-month_41002206
