The fact I found more amazing, in the small historic museum of science in Florence, is that they expose a relic of Galilei, a bony hand, not really much of it. Except for a stark, erected, middle finger.

@cmconseils for the curious: the original painting is Cristiano Banti's «Galileo davanti all'Inquisizione» (Galilelo facing the Inquisition).
Such a response WOULD lead the examiners to burn him at the stake.
