So here's my wonky drawing of the shell, which I very much enjoyed doing. The whole idea of this session is to just have fun, be inspired by what you find on the table.
I started by making blobs of watercolour on the pages (nothing like getting rid of the blank white page and over the fear of messing up!) and then started on the flowers.
Pretty, but I still wasn't relaxing. Time to tackle the shell. Started that with a blind contour drawing, keeping my eyes on the shell, not looking back at my pencil as I drew. Eventually went back over with "inktense" watercolour pencils. And smudged the lot with water at the end.Did I quite get the shape? No. But that's not what Art Therapy is about. I spent two hours getting my whole nervous system into a state of flow and relaxation. I played with colours. I smudged paints with my fingers.
That's the important thing. -
