@oblomov @mcc @dysfun @ariadne whatever the governance is, I like how it works. I also like how Thunderbird is basically the same as it was twenty years ago. It is exactly as boring and reliable as an email app should be. I am here for the email, not the app, so the app should help me get my email and not make everything about itself. The folks behind Thunderbird feel like the only software makers left who actually get that.

When they rolled it out, they tested in prod and took forever to deal with it.
They dealt with it by telling people to turn the thing off in about config.
After weeks they added a toggle in settings and told people to use that.
But they might have fixed it in the meantime.
