Hmm, why is the "local" feed in #Tusky, for Mastodon.social, empty the last couple of days?

Is it something I did or is it not available?
Haven't checked the web client. Will do that.
@ottaross Tusky has been acting up lately. ๐

Yeah, the web client shows it empty too, but there the column is as shown - apparently disabled by the instance admin?
Not sure why that is. Perhaps a resources thing.

@mayintoronto I assumed as much, but I see it's blank on the web client too. Must be issues at Masto central.

@ottaross I think mastodon.social disabled them recently

@justinto Not a huge issue for me, although I did like to peek in there occasionally as a way to stumble across some new people from outside my typical circles.

@mayintoronto @ottaross it's not a Tusky issue, but is a deliberate change in service on mastodon.social: https://mastodon.social/@staff/116015299592234843 / @staff

@ottaross same here. It's still a bit of a firehose on my instance, but I do find some interesting people and posts from time to time on the live feed.

@gnomon Aha! Thanks for that. I can see the motivation, given that this instance is such a broad catch all. Probably of more value on instances that have some subject or geography specific focus. @mayintoronto @staff

@ottaross They've killed the "live feeds" on mastodon.social, as they felt it was no longer useful - it's still showing on mastodon.scot.
I'm glad, because the few times I've had a look at it, it was serving up full frontal nudity and other crap. There are some weirrrrd servers out there. -

Perhaps getting rid of it will make the behaviours a bit better, if the trash merchants aren't able to get eyeballs amidst all that.
