My husband and I are not "two people who have a pet cat." No.
She is not his pet, he is, I think her legal advocate.
"My client is registering a formal complaint about the lateness of breakfast."
"My client may start formal proceedings against you if this healthy low protein diet program continues."
"I do not know the current location of my client, but I would point out that for this hearing such information is not within the rights of the court."
Does she pay him? How?
@futurebird She beams cute rays straight into his brainstem. ๐ป

@futurebird felines are authoritarians who demand to be treated like royalty. they have serfs & slaves.
i am no great fan, as you can imagine.
i was stupid enough to adopt a cat once, she ruled like thatcher in my neighbourhood.
i only had dogs after she passed the rainbow bridge due to even more aggressive cancer than she was. strangely i did ๐ค her.. -
@futurebird Is Pica a kidney cat?
@futurebird @Twotired This was my question too

Yes. She needs to reduce her protein intake. But she also had a thyroid problem that made her lose a lot of weight a year ago (her pills have fixed this) I'm wary of her eating any less since she's doing so well.
She's 18 as well and very happy playful and healthy. So I think about her quality of life a lot.
Eating food is one of her favorite things next to being petted and complimented.
(She love it when you talk to her and tell her how lovely she is.)
@futurebird Itโs a dilemma. Our 20 year old has finally accepted Royal Canin Renal Support D, but sheโs much more enthusiastic about regular food (and the human food that my wife keeps slipping her). Iโm trying to keep her diet strict, but my wife (not unreasonably) is more inclined to give her what she enjoys most and will eat more of.

@futurebird The good news is that kidney cats can live many happy years, especially if youโre willing to administer subq fluids when it gets to that point. I believe that Sahara is our fifth kidney cat (apparently theyโre pretty much all kidney cats if they get old enough).

@futurebird I imagine both Pica and your husband are too clever to trade in mere purrs and pats. He knows that Pica keeps you physically occupied and internally regulated. It is in his interest to maintain this system of stability.

I know this won't make much sense but... I think I'm ALSO her "legal advocate" and the points of contention between us, as perfectly aligned parties, are all over how to best serve the desires of our client ... the questions of what is reasonable do not enter this court.
@futurebird she hired two different lawyers to represent her! Next level
