Can y’all help me out with a product recommendation?

Can y’all help me out with a product recommendation? My oldest kiddo suffers from bad allergies, and she’s looking to get an air purifier for her room in an apartment she shares with friends. I’ve seen products for sale that are basically stripped-down Corsi-Rosenthal boxes that take one or two filters and use PC fans, but I can’t find any of these right now.

I’m guessing that I first ran across these products on Fedi. If you use one and are happy with it (and they’re available in the US), I’d love to know all about it.

@mycorrhiza I own several of the Winix air filters, which are HEPA filters with some pre filters to reduce wear on the expensive parts

I got mine at Costco but you can also get reconditioned ones from the manufacturer

my older kid and I are allergic to basically everything and we rely on these

@sarae @mycorrhiza Winix filters show up on Woot all the time with a pretty good discount. The most recent one I bought has two pre-filters, one disposable and cheap and the second a washable plastic mesh. This works great for houses with pets. But I have several older ones, and they're fine, too. I will say that the fan died in one after about two or three years.

I also don't like the bright blue LEDs that can't easily be turned off. Requires tape or surgery to fix. A common problem, though.
