Alonso is helping me bisect kernels again.

I just asked Alonso what he'd do if he saw a wolf and he licked my face.

WUFF! πΆ
Alonso is very keen to get started work today.
He barked four times to be let in and then raced past me up the stairs to the office.
Such enthusiasm on a Wednesday.

Alonso had many adventures today.
We walked him to the lac. There were some people resting with their ponies in the shade. Alonso isn't interested in horses, and stays away from cattle (having apparently been kicked by a cow once according to his owners). He ignored the ponies, sniffed the people and continued with us.

There are a few houses we pass on the way back from the lac. Alonso goes through a little routine with each, and this is generally fine.
The first is a cabin set back from the road in some trees. This has no fence. Alonso sometimes rests in the shade here waiting for us to catch up, or goes for a sniff and then catches up with us.
So we continued on...

The next house has a dog-proof fence around it, because the previous owners had some (lovely) dogs we used to talk to. It has an electric gate that is usually shut (thankfully), otherwise we have to persuade Alonso not to go inside. I had to chase him out of there a couple of weeks ago. He thought it a wonderful game.

We waited in the next patch of shade for Alonso, but he was taking a long time. Normally we'd just walk on and let him catch up, but I thought I heard a noise, and decided to go investigate.
Alonso was in the yard of the second house. The one with the "dog-proof" fence and electric gate.
He ran up to the gate and looked at me happily. πΆ
I tried in vain to suggest he go out the way he came in, but you'll be surprised to learn this didn't help...

I went back to the first house. We don't know the owner, but, thanks to Alonso, I know she is the niece of the Dutch couple who own Muffy on the other side of the gated house.
I've been meaning to tell you the story of Muffy, but you'll have to wait. First, we need to rescue Alonso!
I inspected the yard and found a couple of places where an Alonso might have squeezed through. I call him over. He comes, but shows no interest in coming back through the fence.

I'm trespassing in someone's private yard, and calling over the fence to Alonso who is trespassing in someone else's yard.
I give up, and walk back around to the metal gate. Alonso runs up excitedly waiting for me to open the gate.
The Dutch couple next door see me. We are discovered! They laugh out loud, obviously understanding our predicament. Muffy barks. Alonso looks at me.
I push the buzzer for the locked gate and wait.

A woman appears, pushes a button somewhere that starts opening the gate, and laughs. Phew! She has a sense of humour. I explain that Alonso has found a hole in their fence and she nods.
We bid her a good day and leave quickly, waving to the Dutch couple and heading home. π
Thanks to Alonso we are gradually getting to know *everyone* in the area. π

Alonso popped by for a late afternoon/evening visit.
I'm making goat curry (karahi gosht). Alonso was very interested and wanted to help.
When his owner came to collect him she said she thinks he likes coming here a little too much... π
