To state the obvious: this is bland stuff, clearly protected by the 1A and so very far within the bounds of what a non-authoritarian FCC would allow that it’s just comical. Kimmel is about as controversial as a goldfish here. They aren’t serious about it being a problem; the whole •point• is that it’s obviously •not• a problem.
They are using something extremely benign to test the waters of government repression of speech, to see just how much they can get away with — and ABC caved like 3rd-grade toothpick bridge.

@inthehands @heluecht ABC didn't pull the trigger on Kimmel. Station owners Sinclair and Nexstar did. They own enough ABC affiliates that their refusal to air the show going forward did the job.
Both Sinclair and Nexstar stand to benefit from the FCC under Trump relaxing ownership rules on broadcast TV stations, allowing them to become a nationwide duopoly. Nexstar is literally in the midst of a merger that requires the FCC to change the rules in their favor so it can proceed.
This is all about a bunch of corporate lackeys trying to curry favor with Herr Trump and his sidekick Ajit—Kimmel is just a pawn on the chessboard they've decided to sacrifice.

@phab @quinta sì, la mia non era una rinuncia totale e disfattista, ma vorrei che si tenesse ben presente cosa significano le mie parole:
1 con stipendi bassi anche la nostra libertà, il nostro peso, la nostra dignità politica è calpestata
2 chi bisogna convincere sono quelli col suvvone, che fanno moda, vengono più ascoltati
3 chi non ha soldi ha poche possibilità di scelta rispetto a chi li ha
4 chi ha soldi inquina e determina l'economia e quindi la politica più di tanti poveracci
