Beautiful moment as a teaching assistant today:
In today's tutorial, one of my students asked if she can distribute red square pins to fellow students, as an expression of protest against the Ford government's #OSAP cuts.
I encouraged her to take some time to explain what the protest is about. She did a beautiful job, linking it to the Québec student protests in 2012, and inviting her peers to an information session at the student centre, and to the big day of action on March 4 at Queen's Park.
I took a stack of pins and gave them out to students in my other tutorial. So proud of her 🥲
Students like her give me hope.

@QuenchedChemist @brian_gettler I was watching them from afar from uWaterloo, and wishing I was there. I did go to Montréal to visit a friend and join in one of the protests. It felt pivotal in my political life.

Lunga attesa aspettando che arrivasse il commesso perché per non so quale misterioso motivo i differenziali non sono esposti a differenza di tutto il resto del materiale elettrico (manco costassero 240 euro).
Finalmente vado alla cassa, pago e ritorno a casa (la cosa mi è costata un viaggio di 70 km tra andata e ritorno).
Apro il quadro, cambio il differenziale, riattacco l'alimentazione, tutto OK. Nel frattempo si sono fatte le 21:30.
Dio papavero e margherita la madonna...

Alla fine, dopo una serie di test al buio con l'uso di un accendino, arrivo per esclusione all'unica soluzione auspicabile: il corto di stamattina aveva danneggiato il differenziale.
Corro da un amico a recuperare un faretto a batterie, ma nel frattempo la rivendita in paese era già chiusa. Vado in un centro commerciale a 20 km ma avevano terminato tutti i differenziali da 25 o 32 Ampere.
E niente, allora ho fatto una corsa a Cagliari per arrivare in orario ad un Tecnomat. >>

Dio esiste e mi ama. Stamattina un utensile difettoso ha causato un corto circuito, ma dopo aver eliminato la causa ho riattaccato il differenziale e per l'intera giornata è andato tutto OK. Alle 18:45, dopo tre ore e mezza di riunioni on line, faccio uscire i cani e dato che era già quasi buio ho acceso la luce esterna.
Scatta il differenziale.
Faccio le prove per individuare eventuali altre cause di corto, ma niente. Il differenziale restava "attaccato" ma non dava corrente all'impianto. >>

Guasto alla struttura: arebbe ceduto uno dei pistoni che consente la manovra. Per un miracolo nessuno stava passando in quel momento e non ci sono feriti. Intervento di vigili del fuoco e forze dell’ordine, problemi al traffico
