I've been trying to sort out how to make the robot feel iridescent. Maybe it's my sinus infection, but I feel like I have no idea how to do this without just making her look like she's shiny.
I guess I could just give her scales, it's easier if it's on a textured surface.

How about subtle scale textures instead? I think this might have potential.

OK, I got 15 hours of sleep. What about this kind of color pattern? I swapped from solid brushes to a rainbow splatter brush, does this sell the shine and shimmer a little?
One version with a white spatter brush to highlight the edge. Gimme your thoughts.

I tried a few more ideas for the robot gal's skin. These are all fairly subtle - either noise in the shadows, or splatter colors. I'm not sure how to make this kind of thing work in art that will scale - you're probably looking at a thumbnail where the changes are barely visible at all.

Here's a version that is more pure iridescence. The problem with this approach is simply that it's super noisy. I'm not sure it's a good idea for someone that's going to be wearing costumes.
But maybe it's a good idea. What do you think?

Shit, it's really pretty, maybe it'll work.
